FENTON TO CHANGE PLEA 2/28/25 Former
Wayne City Police Chief Anson Fenton is set to change his plea March 31st
to charges he improperly forfeited vehicles for personal gain. In
a federal court filing earlier this week, Judge Stephen P. McGlynn wrote that a
change of plea hearing is set for 1:30 March 31st in US District
Court in East St. Louis. Fenton
faces charges of misappropriation of property from a federally funded program
and interstate transportation of stolen property. The property has been
described in court filings as a 2017 Harley Davidson motorcycle that he
allegedly traded for a 1991 Mustang and a 2000 Harley Davidson motorcycle he
eventually sold. Additionally,
Fenton is accused of transporting a 2022 Hayabusa motorcycle from Wayne County
to Alexandria, Virginia, knowing the bike was stolen. If
convicted, he faces up to 10 years in federal prison and a fine of up to
$250,000.
