KINMUNDY FIRE CALL

The Kinmundy-Alma Fire Department responded to a fire on Thursday afternoon.

David Smith-Gibbson reported that he was sitting on the couch when the power went off.  After restoring the breaker, he heard a noise upstairs and saw smoke coming from a receptacle that apparently had shorted out.

Kinmundy-Alma Fire Chief Kevin Day says by the time firemen arrived, there was heavy smoke upstairs and visible fire that was heading towards the attic.   Day says they got a quick knockdown isolating the fire damage and then clearing the second floor of smoke.

Firemen were on scene for almost an hour.
