WILHOUR ON BUDGET 2/21/25 Governor
JB Pritzker Wednesday laid out a FY26 proposed budget that is the largest
budget proposal in state history. The Governor’s proposed budget is $55.235
billion, a nearly $2 billion increase compared to the FY25 enacted budget; a
3.7% increase. State
legislators must negotiate the final details of the fiscal year 2026 budget –
which begins on July 1. The general assembly is scheduled to end on the last
day of May, according to the general assembly’s calendar. State
Representative Blaine Wilhour was disappointed not only with the budget
proposal but also with the governor’s political rhetoric on national
issues. SAT:
