PRESCHOOL SCREENINGS ANNOUNCED FOR FLORA 2/18/25 Parents
of all 3- and 4-year-old children residing in the Flora Community Unit School District
#35 are invited to bring their children to the district’s preschool
screening. If your child is currently enrolled as a preschool student or
has previously been screened, you do not need to have another screening. The
program will be held on March 10th, 11th and 12th
at the First Christian Church, on the corner of North Main and West Fourth
Street in Flora. To get your child screened go to the Flora School
website and complete the Pre-K Screening Form and you will be contacted with a
screening time for your child. If you have any questions, call
618-662-2014 and ask for Emily Glassford. Having
your child screened enables the district to begin preparations for incoming
students for the 25 - 26 school year. It also provides parents with
helpful information on their child’s development in the areas of vision,
hearing, speech, muscle coordination, and social skills. The districts’
pre-kindergarten classes are filled from those children who complete the
screening process and have provided the required documentation. All
Pre-K students must have family income documentation on file in order to
determine eligibility for the program. All information will be kept
confidential. Things
parents will need to provide include Public Benefits Documentation, Proof of
Income, Child certified birth certificate, physical, Immunization Record and
Lead Screening, and Child's Social Security Number. This
information along with the screening results will be utilized to determine
eligibility. The screening is a free service provided by Flora School
District. Each screening lasts approximately 45 minutes to an hour.
Free
Developmental and Hearing Screenings for children ages birth to three are also
being offered by Flora Unit #35 P.A.T. Prevention Initiative during Flora’s
Pre-School Screenings. Early detection of developmental delays will
benefit a child for a lifetime. If
you have any questions, please call Flora Elementary School at 618-662-2014 and
ask for Emily Glassford.
