Juanita
Corrine Pittman was born November 9th, 1931 to Ralph and Dorothy (Feller)
McCracken in rural Wayne County Illinois. Juanita married Galen Gene Pittman on
October 8th, 1952. To this union two sons were born, Galen Allen and William
Ralph. Juanita departed this life after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Dementia
at Flora Health and Rehab on Wednesday February 19th, 2025 at 6:20pm. Juanita
was a graduate of Cisne High School and a member of Zif Missionary Baptist
Church in Clay City. Juanita and Galen made their first home in Olney Illinois
where Juanita worked as a switchboard operator at the General Telephone Company
of Olney Illinois located in what is known as the “Old Shoe Factory” on Whittle
Ave while Galen was stationed in the Korean war. Upon his return home, the
couple made their home back in rural Wayne County and lived a life full of love
on the farm. Juanita
loved Jesus, her family and her church. She was very active in several church
committees and area Baptist associations, as well as the Ladies Auxiliary of
the VFW. Juanita enjoyed cooking big meals for her family, tending to her
fruitful gardens and beautiful flower beds and was a talented artist creating
many amazing pieces of stained-glass artwork. Juanita
will be remembered for her unwavering dedication to her family, the Church and
the farm, her beautiful smile that would light up a room, and her ability to
love and nurture everyone who had the pleasure of being a part of her life. Juanita
was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Dorothy; her husband, Galen; a
sister, Doris Fields; daughter in law Jean Ann Pittman; and great-great
granddaughter Kenzie Kay Jean Linder. Juanita
is survived by her sons, Allen Pittman and William Pittman of Clay City;
siblings Kathryn Woods, Marjorie Hillard, Richard McCracken and Loretta Gill; 7
grandchildren, Bruce (Emily) Pittman, Doug Pittman, Brian (Jamie) Pittman,
Daniel (Summer) Pittman, Derrick (Alexandra) Pittman, Cody (Kali) Pittman and
Brea Pittman; 10 great grandchildren, Cole (Morgan), Ethan, Taylor, Parker,
Braxton, Brock, Paisley, Brooks, Oaklynn, and Macyn; 1 great-great grandson,
Knox; and numerous nieces, nephews, friends and Church family. Visitation:
Will be held Friday, February 28, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at
Hosselton-Meridith Funeral Home Cisne, IL. Funeral service will be at 12:00
p.m. following the visitation at the funeral home. Rev.
James Bean officiating. Burial:
Will follow in Zif Cemetery. Memorial
donations in memory of Juanita may be given to Zif Baptist Church and will be
accepted at the funeral home. Fond
