Mark
L. VanDyke, age 70, of Yorkville, IL, passed away on December 24, 2024, after a
short battle with cancer. He
was born on May 23, 1954 in Effingham, Illinois, the son of Ward L. and Helen
(Hall) VanDyke. Mark was a 1972 graduate of North Clay High School in
Louisville, Illinois, a 1974 graduate of Olney Central College, and graduated
with a bachelor's degree in accounting from Eastern Illinois University. He
met his wife Marcia at EIU, and they spent the next 48 years together. Mark
retired from his employer, Yellow Freight Systems, after 33 award-winning
years. Mark enjoyed golfing, fishing, bowling, and mushroom hunting. He really
valued his farming roots. Mark was a loving husband, father, grandfather,
brother, and uncle who will be deeply missed by his family and friends. He
is survived by sons Christopher (Amber) and Phillip (Becky); his grandchildren
Colton, Luke, Henry, and Cora; brother Monte (Susan); sister - in laws Sabra,
Christine, Nancy, Jan, and brother- in law Pete; several nieces, nephews,
great-nieces, great-nephews, and extended family. He
was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Martha (Harold) Deain and Jean
Baker, and brothers, Doug (Sabra) and Robert (Christine) VanDyke. A
special thanks to all who kept his family in their prayers during their time of
need and continue to do so. In
lieu of flowers, those who wish to honor Mark's memory may donate to the
American Cancer Society or a charity of their choice. Visitation
will be Saturday, March 1, 10:00 a.m., followed by a Memorial Service, 10:30,
at Old Union Church, 101 Falcon Drive, Louisville, IL. Interment will be
private. The
